Happy Holidays from the So-Sos! Nov/Dec 2011

Thanksgiving was an extravaganza...we had 35 Pilgrims, 2 Turkeys, and a partidge in a pear tree.  To accomodate such a crowd, my genious mother created an Indian Village in her garage complete with 4 lifesize teepees, tons of toys, wall to wall carpet, projection screen with movies, and a makeshift couch. The kids had sleepovers, pow wows, and even a reenactment of the "French/Indian War".  Thankfully, there were no peace pipes involved (right netty?).

Clint: In his own words, "I am alive still". So glad I asked for his imput on Nov. happenings.  Actually, Clint is now old.  34 years to be exact...but he is like a fine wine- so no worries.

Wendy: I was the Grinch at our church Christmas party.  It gave me liscense to cut in line, re-purpose food, and make children cry...all in the name of Method Acting.

Christian: He is an amazing Babysitter and big brother (Bubba according to Ray).  We are proud of how much he serves the family with a happy heart.  Christian has been an amazing leader in his Cub Scout pack. During "No electronics" time he can be found drawing, making his siblings paper airplanes, or reading (Heroes of Olympus, son of Neptune by Rick Riordan).

Alyssa:  9 years old...wha what!?  This lil lassie is growin up FAST! She does her own hair and is a top notch fashion consultant to Mommy.  She is becoming quite the artist and actress (Grinch was her debut play!)  She made quite the lovely "Who #3".  I was so proud of her memorizing everyone's stage directions and wanting to review the play on the way to the church.

Tyler:

"Baby Hands, A Thanksgiving treasure": by Aunt Julie Marshall

Tyler was helpin auntie Julie and Netty with Fiona's bath and getting her ready for bed.  Once we finsihed putting baby lotion on her he asked Auntie Netty if he needed to wash the lotion off his hands.  The Auntie's quickly told him that his hands would turn into baby hands unless he took care of it.  He was unconvinced so Auntie Julie told him to read the lotion bottle.  He slowly read outloud, "Baby" (Pause) "Lotion" (Imagine the biggest Tyler eyes you have ever seen). "What am I gonna do Auntie?"
Auntie Julie grabs the bottle and says, "let me see if I can read the back for instructions...oh it's in Spanish, Auntie Netty will have to read it".  Auntie Julie passes her the bottle and she gets a grim look on her face and says, "Vaselina Manos de Bebe". (Vaseline Hands of Baby-Roughly Translated).  Tyler Screams..."WHAT DO I DO?" Auntie Julie tells him that he has to find the antidote within 10 minutes or his hands will start getting smaller and smaller until they turn into baby hands forever...the only person who has the antidote is Mommy.
Then, he darts out of the room and starts yelling to his Mom downstairs, "Mom get the antidote before my hands turn into babies".  Mommy rushes Tyler to the sink saying, "Let's get some apple cider vinegar and pour it on your hands, quick!" Immediately he sighed and said, "That feels better".  Even hours later he kept asking his Aunties if they thought his hands were looking smaller to them too. Auntie Julie replied, "Do you think Fiona looks younger?" Tyler said, "YES!" (with a worried look on his face)

"Tyler, we love you and are sorry we like to tease you so much. "
                                              Love, "The Aunties"

Reagan: Overload of candy, hyperactivity, late nights, and cousins.  Ray Ray and Ava were inseperable- often, we would find them in a pile of pillows inside a teepee with a flashlight and my little pony books saying "Get out!" to any adult who tried to get in on that action.  Reagan (Nugget) also, loves to dress up...or should I say, "skirt up"...a few days ago Reagan put on a skirt, then another, then 4 more.  After which, she comes downstairs with 4 more skirts asking for assistance in her fashion exploits.

Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store...Maybe Christmas means a little bit more!
In this season of Thanksgiving and love we want to say how grateful we are for our friends and family. You lift us when we are down, you help us laugh and relax, you feed us, you are wonderful examples.
HECK! You show us love...even when we are "GRINCHY"!

Tyler is grovin to the cupid shuffle..total dance face!

This is what he did at the lyrics, "How low can you go..."
Cold Hands...warm heart.

SHOCKTOBER SPECTACULAR!Fall is one of my favorite times of year, the air turns crisp, the desserts turn deliciously deadly, and our hearts turn towards each other.

Here are some of the gory details of the Sorensen crew...
Clint/2 Face: So yah, his costume was "2 Face"...but he is totally 1 face- the Harvey Dent one (Handsome, Smart, Do gooder.)  Clint earns his do gooder title by serving others without hesitation and putting his family first! (I often call him the Christmas martyr because he tries to forgo getting any presents so the kids can have more).

Wendy/Catwoman: I am catwoman. Fiesty, finicky, obsessed with cleanliness...oh YEAH!  Catwoman has a good side too- I promise.  To pay for my crimes-for the rest of the year, I am starting "Service Saturdays" to try to pull the focus off my wish list and towards Christ.

Christian/Joker: Ahh Joker.  We often hear screechin' in the batcave- the culprit? You guessed it.  Christian LOVES to tease.  He also loves to give hugs, make up games for his younger siblings, and rock a report card! Go Joker!

Alyssa/Batgirl: Batgirl has many super powers. Tenderness, acting (she just got promoted to intermediate acting, go girl!), brainpower(Straight A's-get it!) What can't you do Batgirl!

Tyler/Batman: Batman is known for overcoming the forces of evil...true.  However, did you know that, by day, he also is the recipient of the "Super star" award for writing!  Batman attacks life with passion, humor, and love- what a superhero.

Reagan/Batgirl: "Da duh duh DA!" She is one dedicated Superhero.  Ever since Halloween she has been living in her costume.  We are quite proud of Batgirl, she has recently turned from a life of crime, Graffiti and mostly misdemeanors, to superhero hugger and snuggler.

Well that's all from the So-Sos!  We love you.  Fall is a time to enjoy our blessings and thank God for our bounty.  So we thank God for you!

JAZZ HANDS EVERYBODY!

Fall Update:
Clint: If Clint were reincarnated, he would be reborn as a PC.  It's like he has a growth on his fingertips, the keyboard.  But he mixes it up by playing "monster" with the kids and by jumping out of dark corners at his beloved.  Please someone tell him a wife never forgets.

Wendy: Aside from bein a Mommy and teaching, Wendy has been slowly redecorating the house.  As a result, Reagan and Alyssa are bunk mates and the house is SPOOKtacular for Fall.  If diamonds are a girl's best friend then goodwill & spray paint are a thrifty momma's diamond.

Christian: His smile is his hallmark.  Love abounds with this boy...you can't leave the house, say a prayer, go to bed, or give a compliment without a kiss and hug (x 20!)  He leads with great grades, responsiblility, and compassion. Hey froggie, we can see your halo!

Alyssa: When she was 2, mommy would ask, "What makes you beautiful?" and she would reply, "My persa-alilty".  It was true then, and its even more true now.  If someone in this house is sad or struggling, guess who is the first on the scene? Not the police-but Alyssa!(though Alyssa does moonlight as mommy's fashion police).  Alyssa is taking drama this year and is described as a very serious student. (My lil' protege!)

Cyndi Lauper has not aged well, read closely....

Tyler: Tyler's brains are growing almost as fast as he is! His brain is scientifically checked daily after HW (just by peekin' in his ears you can see how much smarter he gets every day).  Tyler is working so hard each day to avoid sticking his fingers in his friends soup- I am happy to report that progress is good!

Reagan: Reagan is learning her shapes and colors.  She loves getting Mommy and Daddy all to herself for lunch dates.  She also loves hangin' with cousin Ava( whom she calls "Ray Ray"-so when Ava answers her door you hear- "Ray Ray" shouted back and forth from each girl hugs.)

Here are some pics of the girl's new digs...

...its a work in progress, but isn't everything!?

POP QUIZ....What's the best thing about FALL?
Not the costumes, not the candy, not the dry weather, not the pumpkin desserts, not the quiet times during the day (but I sure do love that)...It's the reminder that if we have love, and faith- that we have all the blessings we need.
